Bess' Cakery - Columbus Wedding Cake

I highly recommend you call to schedule a consultation so that I can meet you and get a good feel for your wedding. Sample cakes are baked per request only and are limited to three cake, filling and icing flavors. Although I have many pictures for you to look at, it is never a bad idea to search the internet for pictures of cakes that fit the general "feel" of your reception. Bring any photos you find interesting with you. Cakes can be designed around themes, color, wedding gown design....the possibilities are endless.

I remember growing up and watching my mother spend countless hours in the kitchen to feed our family of seven. She always made the best baked goods and we always had something sweet in the house. Once I reached the age where I could help her in the kitchen, I was right there measuring, baking, cutting, icing, and tasting each and every dessert. My passion for baking grew throughout high school and that led me to Indiana University of Pennsylvania Academy of Culinary Arts, where I broadened my skills and expanded my learning.

From there I moved to Columbus to complete an internship under Master Chef Hartmut Handke at Handke’s Cuisine. I moved on to work at a local bakery for the holiday season and then became a cake decorator at a local retail store.

One day a friend said to me, “Your cakes are so delicious and unique, I would never buy a cake from anyone else”. Hence, Bess’ Cakery began.
