How do I book you?

What in the world is poi?
Poi (rhymes with joy) refer to balls that are attached to ropes or chains and spun around. They were invented by the Maori tribe of New Zealand. I spin poi with wicks made of a blend of fiberglass, Kevlar and other materials. To set them on fire, I use either Coleman white gas and/or lamp oil. One can also make poi out of glow sticks, tennis balls, or whatever else their heart desires.

Are you insured?
Yes! I have insurance with Specialty Insurance Agency (formerly Clowns of the US, Inc.). The policy is valid in all 50 states of the USA, Puerto Rico and all of Canada.

Do you perform year round?
Absolutely! I've performed at ski resorts & outdoor winter festivals. Snow and fire go well together.

What are your rates?
It varies based on travel time, number of performers, length of show, etc. Contact me at michael@poispinner.com for a quote.

Who is Cahill?
Cahill is a phenomenal Boston band. We sometimes get hired together; I spin fire to their songs. It's a great way to book both a great band and fire!

Michael's knowledge of both his art and the regulations with which he must abide made for an extremely smooth process. Michael brought years of experience and know-how, and a calm, approachable, and nice attitude to the table. A production manager's dream artist. The night of the performance, Michael and his fellow fire performers Brad Gutkin, Aaron Grossman and Joanna Keseberg were aces all around. Having done his homework, there were no surprises, no big questions, and no head-aches. The performance, synchronized to music, was beautiful. As a light snow fell local artists, event staff, and the public were mesmerized by a wonderful display of the beauty of fire. I was mesmerized by how easy Michael made the addition of this element to our event. I look forward to the next time I can work with Michael Farrell.

A model of professionalism and safety, Mr. Farrell is the most reliable fire performer I have ever met. Not only is he well-educated in regard to proper safety procedures for handling flammable materials, he is one of the most consistent artists I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He commits to his performance with the same energy every night, and always gives 100%. He is always aware of his equipment, his position, and of those around him.
